Microsoft’s new powerful flagship laptop is Surface Laptop Studio

Microsoft today announced the Surface Laptop Studio to replace the incredible Surface Book PC line. It represents a full update to Microsoft's flagship, replacing the detachable presentation of one that stretches from PC to tablet (I definitely call it studio mode). “Surface Laptop Studio is the most stunning Surface we've worked with,” said Pete Kyriacou, Vice President of Gadgets at Microsoft. “It's the culmination of Surface's long development milestones - angles, shows, silicon and more - and combines the best of Surface's heritage into one reliable force. The Book Replacement has a display case and a hinge. The 14.4-inch PixelSense-Flow display (2400 x 1600) supports up to 120 Hz and Dolby Vision. Microsoft uses another adjustable chased hinge that is said to be loud and allows this PC to switch between modes, like the larger Surface Studio .Surface Laptop Studio supports three modes: PC, scene and studio.

PC mode adapts to a presentation like a normal PC with a full console and a new tactile touchpad. Scene mode does amazing things as you can move the presentation to a point intended for playback, streaming, or performance. It covers the console and is more suitable for watching Netflix or sleeping, chatting at a presentation or using the new Surface Slim Pen 2 for advanced drawing. Microsoft's latest mode is Studio Mode and as the name suggests, it is for building, painting and any imagination. Microsoft is careful not to call this mode "Tablet" mode, because the Surface Laptop Studio is generally less light, weighs almost four pounds and is 0.7 inches thick. I didn't turn off the Surface Book screen while using it, so I think this new Laptop Studio setup is really geared towards PC modes and offers some flexibility for those that draw fanatics. As far as I know, this seems like a more refined adjustment to the volume of the Acer Ezel PC.

Unlike the Surface Book, Microsoft has ported most of the components to the core of the Surface Laptop Studio. This will certainly help make the computer more powerful, but it also means you'll lose any heat in your lap. The base is also perfect for the Surface Slim Pen 2, which is surprisingly sold separately. Intel Core i5 or Core i7 quad-core 11th generation processes are available to drive the Surface Laptop Studio. Core i5 models come with Intel Iris Xe processors, while Core i7 variants include an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU with 4GB of VRAM. There will be alternatives from 16 GB to 32 GB of RAM and up to 2 TB of removable SSDs.

These features make Surface Laptop Studio fully equipped to run the latest PC games. Microsoft often avoids launching the Surface Book as a full-fledged gaming PC, but the company is leaning toward that idea in Surface Laptop Studio. Like the Surface Pro 8, Microsoft is moving to Thunderbolt 4 in Surface Laptop Studio. There will be two USB 4 ports with Thunderbolt 4, as well as a standard Surface Connect charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Thunderbolt support means you can pair the Surface Laptop Studio with multiple 4K displays, use fast external storage, or even use an external GPU to turn this gadget into a full-fledged gaming PC. Microsoft is allowing pre-orders for the Surface Laptop Studio today and it will go on sale October 5 for $1,599.99.
